Thank you so much for your interest in becoming a dog foster with Best Friends Animal Society - Los Angeles. We're so excited to have your help!
Why fostering is important
By opening your home to an animal in need, we're able to rescue another at-risk animal from the shelter. Our center has a set capacity for kennels, so fostering is crucial in our life saving efforts. Additionally, your observations of the dog's behavior out of the kennel can offer valuable insights for potential adopters.
How it works
Our team will match you with a dog that most suits your abilities and home environment. We’ll also take into consideration if you have other pets at home and if you have the capacity to keep them separate. When you become a foster, you offer the space and time to care for the pet, and we provide all the supplies you will need, including food and medical assistance for the animal during their stay with you.
You must be at least 18 years old to participate in our foster program. If you are under 18, you are welcome to foster alongside a parent or guardian. Please have them complete our foster on-boarding process below.
Community Service: Fostering for community service hours is permitted on a case by case basis. Please contact volunteerla@bestfriends.org before taking in a foster pet if hours are needed.
