Thank you so much for your interest in fostering! The Adams County Foster Program is one the most impactful ways to help save more lives in your community.  Best Friends could not accomplish our goals or save nearly as many lives without foster caregivers like you.

Why fostering is important 

Fostering is temporarily caring for a homeless pet. There are so many benefits to fostering- the pet gets to stay in a comfortable home setting instead of the shelter, they get more one-on-one attention, certain medical or behaviorally needs can be better addressed in foster care, and it provides us with a better understanding of what an animal’s personality is like in a home setting, which ultimately helps us match the animals with the best possible forever home. It's also a great way for your family to spend time with a cool new pet and help them along their journey to a loving family of their own. 

How it works

We've tailored our foster program to make it as easy as possible, give you the support you need, and work with you to find the best match possible for your home and lifestyle. Discover how incredibly fulfilling and fun it can be to foster a pet!

As a foster you provide the space and time to care for your foster animal. We’ll give you all food, supplies and medical support the animal will need while in your care. 

Our team will pair you with an animal that best matches your abilities and home environment. We’ll also take into consideration if you have other pets in the home and if you have the capacity to keep animals separate.   

Anyone can foster, but if you are under 18 an adult needs to be fostering with you and they should complete the online paperwork.
